Activities & Entertainment

The home policy on “Therapeutic Activities” takes into account a person’s interests, skills, experiences, personalities and medical condition. The home offers a wide range of activities designed to encourage the client to keep mobile, and most importantly take an interest in life. Staff encourage and in certain instances help residents to pursue their hobbies and interests.

Heliosa has many games designed for fading sight including Bingo, draughts, cards and ball games (for feet or hands), alongside the wide screen TV, state of the art music system and individual TV’s in bedrooms. Heliosa also has visiting entertainment and activities from “Music for health” - a therapeutic music and exercise session where the clients join in and play musical instruments - to our regular music man that provides a good sing-along.

Organised entertainment is organised by our comfort fund committee, which organise fund-raising events so that every resident within our care can be entertained without personal cost.  Favourites include our annual falconry display, firework display, Christmas parties and summer fetes, which have provided funding for our luncheon club, boat trips and visits to the local garden centre.

We hold popular day trips, which in the past have included trips to Chester Zoo, Blackpool tower circus and Llandudno and Seasonal entertainment is encouraged by our own staff who aid in the making of Easter bonnets and Christmas cards. We even have an annual visit from Santa who brings presents for all!
